Aaron Stauffer is back with new music. Best known for his work in Seaweed, the vocalist has just dropped a music video for "Contents Of," a track that wouldn't have sounded out of place on one of that band's latter releases.
For people my age (50) that grew up in hardcore/punk/emo/adjacent music buckets, Seaweed is one of THOSE bands. It’s pure love, so getting new material in that spirit is truly appreciated.
Joining Aaron on the song is Sean Husick (Milemarker, Committee(s) who also works with the singer in Ghost Work. Sean handles all of the instrumentation and mixing/mastering duties on "Contents Of," and also put the song's music video together.
"The song is about how precious our moments of life are and the reminder that nothing is forever and are bodies will all become dust," Aaron told me via email over the weekend. "As far as a proper release; my goal is to complete 100 Aaron Stauffer songs (this is number#29) and of course hoping to continue my collaborations with Sean and [musician] Bryan [Garfinkle].
"I'm not opposed to a more traditional release at some point but do truly enjoy making music one song at a time and the song being its own release. The larger body being the 100 songs I hope to complete."
Aaron works as a Registered Nurse and has been uploading his solo work on Bandcamp going back to 2020. "Of course my work as an RN in the ED serves as a regular reminder of how fragile life is and that is it has a ending ; possibly any day for all of us."
"Contents Of" lyrics:
trapped effervescent, under the cap
complete the sentence , defuse the trap
carved into segments ,under the clockforethought is all forgot the moment burns so bright
beneath the skill the plow will till the contents of your gravevalued possessions up on the block
use your discretion avoiding rocks
forethought is all forgot the moment burns so bright
beneath the skill the plow will till the contents of your gravethe contents of your life all the love the strife
is plowed under the till you better get your fill
while your alive
