Formed in summer 2025, Brick Windows brings together musicians who’ve already spent years playing together in different projects. “We’ve all played in bands together before,” vocalist HEAT tells No Echo. “We all like each other a lot.” It’s a simple foundation, but one that translates directly into the band’s chemistry—loose, loud, and locked in.
That energy carries over into Brick Windows’ sound, which pulls from a wide range of abrasive and off-kilter influences. “We like loud bands,” HEAT says. That approach draws from everything from DC Hardcore to the wiry chaos of the Jesus Lizard and Lightning Bolt, with left-field touches like Primus, Chuck Mosley-era Faith No More, and even “Kate Bush’s wild ass spirit” shaping the edges.
The band’s first release leans fully into that DIY ethos. Recorded in their practice space using a mix of old tape players and Linux-based setups, the tape captures Brick Windows in their most immediate form—unpolished, urgent, and intentionally raw. Lyrically, HEAT keeps things grounded in real-world tension. “Our lyrics largely center on topics of grievance, both in the immediate and larger world,” she explains.
Brick Windows are also part of a growing and active local community. “Our local scene is alive and thriving,” HEAT says, pointing to a wave of bands and releases coming out of the area. She specifically shouts out Bruiser and Bicycle, along with the output of Tummy Rub Records, adding, “everything coming out of Tummy Rub Records (DOGPISSER!).”
