New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Guerrero

Photo: Abraham Scheibner

Band: Guerrero
From: Lower Central Valley, California

Their formation story:
(Josh, vocals): "I’d been wanting to start up and front a really fast and pissed=off project for a while so I hit up my cousin Omar who plays guitar in Guerrero with the idea and we just took off from there. Our family hails from the State of Guerrero in México so the band name is directly inspired by that."

Their sound in their own words:
"Best way that I can think of describing the sound or style of the band is fast hardcore punk. Música para la Raza. A whole mess of circle pits for sure. The biggest influence for Guerrero would definitely have to be Blood for Blood. Sheer Terror and Agnostic Front as well."

Latest release info:
"Our first release is a demo that is just under 10 minutes long. Short, sweet, and to the point. Omar and I wrote everything and we went and recorded with the homie Marc Estabillo in San Francisco. I’ve been lucky enough to work with Marc on many musical projects throughout the years and it’s always a great time. My guy made this demo sound insane."

Future plans:
"We don’t really have any major plans outside of just playing as many shows as possible anywhere and everywhere. Also hoping to release more music in the near future!"

What other bands from the region should we check out?
"The Lower Central Valley has so many good bands to name. Check out Martirio, Palmreader, and Thousand Yard Stare. I play in two other bands: Bulldog and Avulsion. Our drummer plays in a band called Burn Unit so check those bands out as well.

"Also shout out LCV DIY for always bringing cool shows and shit to the Lower Central Valley!"
