More bangers keep coming out of Costa Rica. Now, emo rockers Sobre Tormentas are handling business, premiering the video for “Contigo, los sueños,” the fifth song from their new EP, Todo lo que me falta por gritar, released last month.

The emo/post-hardcore band formed in Costa Rica’s capital city in 2023 and has since released two EPs, shared the stage with scene heavyweights such as Touché Amoré and Boston Manor, and did a one-off CDMX opening for a little band called Fiddlehead.

Delving into themes of loss, the band explains that “the song speaks of constantly encountering someone in our dreams who is no longer part of our lives. Encounters where everything seems to work again, and the desire not to forget them transforms into the wish to remain asleep so we can see them again.”

As part of their DIY approach, the band independently filmed the video this past September in San Rafael de Heredia, Costa Rica. Directed by Diego León and produced by Andrea Selva, it features cinematography by local hardcore documentarian Fabián Cerdas (previously profiled on No Echo) and art direction by Daniela Prado. Brandon Rojsa and Valeria León star in the video.

“The music video combines the band’s performance with romantic images that recall the moments before the breakup, when everything seemed to be fine,” the band says.

Keep an eye out for Sobre Tormentas, as they’re set for more local shows, starting with an opening spot at La Dispute’s first-ever show in Costa Rica.
