Band: Piercing Damage
From: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Their formation story:
(Andrew Cormier, vocals): "Piercing Damage originally formed in like 2017 or 2018 after me and Brett's old band, Iron Eye, called it quits but Piercing Damage just never made it off the ground, we wrote a handful of songs and jammed a bunch but that was about it. I always loved the name and the songs so much and tried a few times to resurrect the band but couldn't wrangle the right people to do it.

"In summer of 2023, I started jamming with Liam Farrell showing him a few things I was interested in doing and I showed him the old Piercing Damage songs I had on voice memos and when he heard 'Kick Me When I'm Down' he was like we should do this but he was already in a few bands (Baited and Oakdrive) and just couldn't make it a full priority yet.

"In August of 2024, something just happened one day and we made the time for it, contacted Brett the original drummer and grabbed Tyler from Baited and Oakdrive and decided to jam it out and we were cooking with gas, we jammed 4 or 5 times in like a 2-week period and had a demo fully fleshed out, we recorded it in my basement sometime in September and it's been a ride since."

Their sound in their own words:
"I would describe our sound as early 2000s hardcore with some chain punk/d-beat influences. Our influences range from Bracewar, Outbreak, Carry On, The Rival Mob, Armor, Boston Strangler, Bad Beat, Chain Whip, Risky Business, Mental, and every other band ever on Lockin' Out Records.

"Huge shout out to Bad Beat for really fueling the fire of my love for hardcore and helping that early 2000s sound come back."

Latest release info:
"I reached out to Destiny from Be About It originally to just try to get on the next compliation Be About It was going to do, sent her a mix of the demo before it even had vocals on it yet just saying, 'Hey, I listen to the Montreal Style comp a ton and love it, I hope you can listen to this demo and consider us for the next or give feedback' and the response I got back was her saying she thought it was sick and just wanted to put the whole demo out on Be About It Records.

"Obviously, we said yes, we were so excited when we announced the release and did a few shows off island that week and the response has been great! We're so happy with the feedback we are getting and how the demo turned out with us recording it ourselves and Liam mixing and mastering it. I think as someone who was trying to start this band for so long it's really cool that the demo has one of the Piercing Damage original recipe songs but also 4 other songs I love, it's hard to pick a favorite. I think it changes frequently but I think the sand out track is 'Venting' myself."

Future plans:
"Our plans for the next couple of months are pretty great, we were just asked to go up and play Montreal Madhouse on Jan 24th, we still dont know who all were actually playing with on the first day of the fest but we are beyond excited just to even get to go!

"We are also going to be putting a new song out on the next Be About It comp, True North: Ten Bands,10 Tracks, featuring bands from all over Canada that will be coming out before Montreal Madhouse, and then the focus will be on writing the next release which we have a good chunk of the way done already, 2025 is gonna be a great year for hardcore in the maritimes."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Prince Edward Island Hardcore is sick right now! Check out Poison Spear, Cut Deep, Oakdrive, Cell Deth, and Iniquity."

The Piercing Damage demo will be out soon on cassette via Be About It Records.
