Apocryphal Verses: Spanish Band Balances Metalcore & Deathcore in Their Approach

Apocryphal Verses's Javier Velarde is a musician from Seville, Spain who took the DIY path to fulfill his vision. "I've been in some very good bands, but I've never felt completely free to do my work, so I started making music on my own until 2023 when I met my friend Manuel and we created Apocryphal Verses. He joined as vocalist and audiovisual director. Since then, we've release 3 singles, while we looked for new members to join us."

"Luckly, a friend of Manuel's, Abraham Rodriguez, contacted us to join as a bassist, and weeks later I contacted Ussiel Cruz, a friend from school, who also joined to fill the drum position."

Apocryphal Verses' chug-heavy sound can be heard on their latest single, "Rotten to the Core." Javier breaks their sound down:

"Musically, we have diverse influences. I grew up playing deathcore and metalcore. Manuel has a beatdown and deathcore influences as well. Abraham has a career with his thrash metal band, Beheding Samsara. Ussiel has never had a band but has years of experience playing Latin music in addition to years playing metal on his own."

With the lineup now in tact, Apocryphal Verses is ready to get busy. "Our plans for the immediate future are to record an EP and try to go one step further and start touring around our region."
