Cruelty: UK Metallic Hardcore Band Pulls Inspiration from Chuck Schuldiner on New Music

Another week and yet another banger from our friends at The Coming Strife Records.

The UK-based label has recently released tasty records by such bands as Exhibit, Killing Me Softly, and Gray State, proving owner Oli Jack has a great ear for the metalcore and metallic hardcore sides of the sonic spectrum.

Today, The Coming Strife dropped a two-track killer from Cruelty, a UK band I've been covering on No Echo since 2017. Their recorded output has always been top-notch metallic hardcore, especially last year's Salvation album. But there's something especially ferocious about this new material.

"We’ve always been big fans of the first few Lamb of God records and this was an attempt to do something in that style adding some more death metal type stuff too," said the Cruelty dudes via email.

"One section is pure Death worship but obviously we can’t shred like that so it’s Diet Chuck Schuldiner."

Cruelty will launch a UK tour on March 15th in Wolverhampton at KK's Steel Mill with direct support from No Relief on all dates. Dandelion and Killing Me Softly will be jumping on select shows:

"Grey" and "Dusk" are out now on all streaming outlets via The Coming Strife Records. You can pick up a cassette version of the release here.
