Toronto's Last Agony are set to return with Death Wave, their second full-length. Clocking in at 19 minutes, the record delivers a relentless surge of raw punk and metallic aggression.
Out October 23 on Sentient Ruin Laboratories, the nine tracks pull from Japanese noise punk, Scandinavian crust, UK d-beat, anarcho-punk, grindcore, and speed metal. Think Anti-Cimex, Extreme Noise Terror, Doom, and Napalm Death as touchstones for the sound Last Agony are working with.
Anyone looking for subtlety will not find it here. Death Wave is all blown-out production, frantic blasts and d-beats, chainsaw guitars, and harsh vocals. While Last Agony clearly draw from decades of crust, d-beat, and extreme punk, Death Wave is not about nostalgia. The band uses these influences as a base for their own harsh take on hardcore punk.
