Band: Power Failure
From: Chelmsford, UK
Their formation story:
(Vocalist James): "Faz (guitar) started the band as a kind of unserious, post lockdown power violence project with lots of slow heavy parts. He then roped in brothers Paul and Ben for drums and bass, and it rapidly turned into something more substantial.
"Around this time, I was chatting to Faz about getting a local Essex hardcore band up and running, and eventually we all got together and became Power Failure."
Their sound in their own words:
"The sound is pitched somewhere between dark heavy hardcore like Integrity, US power violence bands like Crossed Out and the ferocity of early '90s-era Napalm Death. All of which are obviously massive influences, alongside '90s UKHC bands like Stalingrad and Ironside.
"The lyrics reflecting on how we have got ourselves in such a shocking state as a country (UK) and planet, whilst looking towards a bleak future."
Latest release info:
"We are about to release our first tape, Hunger Stones. Hunger stones were engraved landmarks which foresaw historical drought and famine in central Europe so we thought it was apt inspiration for this release. We recorded it at our practice space with the help of our mate Maxi, and artist Nick Felaris (Codex) provided some incredibly sick artwork.
"The physical tape will be available on Feb 17th and streaming on usual platforms."
Future plans:
"Gigs! Also, more recording soon, hopefully."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"The UK itself has a really rich and diverse scene. The Annihilated, Stiff Meds, Stingray, High Vis, and so many more are smashing it right now.
"Locally here in Essex, we got Splitknuckle, Raiden and the recently reformed Above All who were an entry point for many of us into this kind of music."
