Avenge is a new metallic-minded hardcore band featuring Rotting Out guitarist Alfredo “Tank” Pedrozo. "So, [drummer/vocalist] Vince and I game nonstop all the time, we play mad video games, and we always talked about jamming, and one day we made it happen, and that’s when he brought his homie [guitarist] Tiernan in," Tank tells No Echo about the band's origin story. "It started off with us 3 just fucking around, and I think the first time we jammed, we wrote our first song, 'Sakabato.'"
As mentioned above, Tank is best known for co-founding Rotting Out, but Avenge moves in a different stylistic direction. "I think at the time when we were trying to figure out a direction, the bands that kept coming up in conversation were Dying Fetus, Hatebreed, and a band a little more current, C4."
Avenge’s demo captures that mix of metallic heaviness and groove:
“To be honest, the reaction has been sick,” Tank says of the response to the demo since it dropped in early March. “A lot of homies have reached out in support, and it seems like people have really fucked with it.” The recording stayed close to home and was fully DIY. Pedrozo, Vince, Tiernan, [bassist] Diego, and engineer Andrew at Dead Stare Audio handled the sessions themselves.

I'm curious about Tank's introduction to hardcore, so I ask him what some of the bands that helped him fall in love with the sound.
"Coming from a punk background, I think the bands that made the transition into hardcore easily were bands like The First Step, True Colors, and anything Youth Crew related. It sounded punk to me, so I feel like it made it easy to get into most of that. Bands I’ve been really fucking with recently have been Start Today, New World Man, and Leave No Doubt."
With the demo out, Avenge is about to get to work again. “We’re aiming to play our first show in about a month,” Tank says. “Hopefully, line up a few runs after that and write some new music.”
Despite their brutal sonic style, it sounds like Tank and his Avenge bandmates are having a chill time playing together. “This band is a spawn of a few gaming homies that love to smoke weed, game together, and riff together,” he says. “Essentially a perfect representation of what most of us in the band enjoy.”
