For anyone who came up around the late ’90s and early 2000s Italian hardcore scene, With Love remains a defining name. Chaotic, emotional, and constantly evolving, the band helped shape a generation of screamo/post-hardcore through blistering live shows and a catalog that never stayed still for long. Now, that body of work is finally being given the vinyl treatment it has long deserved.
Earlier this month, Green Records and Shove Records released Yours, Truly, a 20-track double LP collecting With Love’s essential recordings from 1996–2002. Limited to 300 copies, the release marks the first time the band’s first two albums appear on vinyl, alongside tracks from their split with Mindless Collision, the Wolf In Modern Fairytales single, and one previously unreleased song. All material has been newly remastered by Carlo Altobelli at Toxic Basement Studio.
For Manuel Piacenza of Shove Records, the release is equally personal. “This record can be summed up in just one word: emotion,” he says, describing Yours, Truly as a full-circle moment for Italian hardcore history. That emotional throughline is something Vascellari still sees reflected today. “The scene is completely different now,” he admits, “but maybe that’s because we are different too. Still, there are many realities organizing shows, and a lot of interesting bands if you stay curious.”
Guitarist Paolo Riscica traces the band’s beginnings back to early ’90s skate culture in Italy. “Skateboarding was an incredible way to discover an alternative culture, especially music,” Riscica explains to No Echo. After starting as a more traditional hardcore band, With Love soon gravitated toward the sounds of labels like Ebullition and Gravity, developing a style that blended acoustic tension, furious outbursts, and, later, more experimental approaches. “The band sound changed through the years—it grew up with us,” Riscica says.
Yours, Truly captures that evolution in full. “This release summarizes the essence of With Love,” Riscica notes, pointing out that the band had always hoped these records would one day live on vinyl. The discovery of a previously unreleased track, “Just,” adds another layer to the compilation, reinforcing its role as both a historical document and a living reminder of the band’s impact.
More than a retrospective, Yours, Truly stands as a testament to the emotional urgency and DIY spirit that defined Italian hardcore at the turn of the millennium—and why With Love’s music still resonates decades later.
