Bay Area outfit Time Spent Driving will see one of their most beloved releases return this spring. Thirty Something Records has announced an April 10 vinyl reissue of the band’s influential 2002 album, Just Enough Bright, newly remixed and remastered more than two decades after its original release.
Formed in 1998 within the San Francisco punk and hardcore scene, Time Spent Driving quickly stood apart from their peers. While many local bands leaned toward aggressive sounds, the group carved out a more emotive, indie-leaning direction that owed as much to Midwestern emo and Dischord Records’ catalog as it did to their Bay Area roots. Over the course of their initial run, they played more than 150 shows across the U.S. and Europe, building a devoted following along the way.
The upcoming reissue restores clarity to the original recordings while preserving the emotional core that helped the album endure. Tracks 1 through 10 were originally recorded and produced by J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines) at Tiny Telephone Studios in San Francisco in January 2002. For this edition, Robbins has newly remixed the material, with mastering handled by Dan Coutant at Sun Room Audio.

The release will also include a newly recorded 11th track, “What It Should Be Like,” a song written during the original Just Enough Bright sessions but never completed at the time. The track was finally recorded in 2024 at Compound Recording by Olav Tabatabai, offering a long-overdue glimpse into the band’s creative process from that era.
