ROCKPYLE is back with a new release out of Sudsbury, Ontario, Canada, they have new music and a whole new energy surrounding them. The group have been playing relentless shows around Canada and have new confidence with the new single, "Face the Pain."
The band has planned on releasing a split with fellow Canadian band, Just Right. The release date will be May 15th, 2025 on all streaming services.
No Echo sat down with ROCKPYLE to talk about the latest split, "Face the Pain," and great pizza.
Tell No Echo about the upcoming split and how it came to fruition?
We went on a run out to Quebec with our boys in Just Right back in July of last year, and in the middle of the run, I remember talking to our bassist about how it would be cool to do a split with them.
Ryan from JR ended up reading our minds and asked us about doing a split the next day at the merch table in Montreal. It was meant to be [laughs]. Two original songs from each band, and one cover of a band that influenced the way we write music. We tried to keep everything as DIY as we could: Big Nick from JR handled all the mixing/mastering for the release, and Moke from RP did the artwork from scratch.
"Face the Pain" is a banger of a track! It sounds like 7 dudes grab the mic! Will you tell No Echo how you made the vocal delivery so impactful?
Thank you so much! For the gang vocal part, there was a solid four dudes in the mic for sure [laughs]. We really wanted to hammer down the vocals as a focal point for this track, and I like to think we succeeded.
We were also super happy to bring back guest vocals for this release, after not having any on Dunny Days from last year. Ryan killed it!
Production on "Face the Pain" is better than a new pair of socks! Who did you work with on the recording and mastering sides?
We recorded locally in Sudbury at Deadpan Studios, an old mission/church my mom actually went to as a kid converted into a professional recording studio run by engineer Matt Wiewel.
This was our first time recording locally as a band, which sounds crazy to think considering our band is so Sudbury-centric. It was an amazing experience and it was very satisfying to add another 705 stamp on what we do.
Mixing and mastering was all done by Big Nick, the guitarist of Just Right. He is an absolute wizard behind the board, and you can thank him for making us sound so huge!

What does ROCKPYLE want to say about Canadian Hardcore?
It’s an amazing time in Canadian Hardcore history as far as we’re concerned. The quality of hardcore bands around is the best it’s been in my show-going lifetime. It’s always been tougher for Canadian bands to get exposure with major markets so dispersed throughout the country.
Canadian bands always have to work super hard to really make a dent in the scene, and that’s why I think Canadian hardcore bands really push the pace. Ain’t no time for slackin’.
I heard some gnarly pizza coming from Canada. What are some of the band’s favorite pizza places?
I could write an essay on this [laughs]. If you’re in Hamilton, you gotta try Cowabunga for New York style. East end Toronto, Slow Hand for Detroit style. Montreal, Segreta for Roman style. We have a song called "Byng Street Beat" named after something on the menu at Don’s Pizza in Sudbury. You do the math.
After this split drops what is next for ROCKPYLE?
The split drops May 15th, 2025 on all major streaming platforms. We have a few shows with the boys in Just Right to celebrate the release of the split at the end of May, and we’re playing a maker’s market in Hamilton in July with a mix of Canada and the US’ top hardcore bands right now.
More show announcements to come and expect a longer release out of us sometime in 2026.
