New York City’s Iron Grip came together the old-fashioned internet way: Craigslist. “We are a tried and true Craigslist band formed over a shared love for metal and hardcore,” drummer Jesse says.
What started with a simple post looking for a new project turned into a full lineup, with members reconnecting and linking up through the same unlikely platform. About a year-and-a-half later, the band is fully locked in.
Iron Grip deals in metallic hardcore for fans of Knocked Loose and Harm’s Way — heavy riffs, driving grooves, and zero subtlety. Their debut EP, Ruins, dropped early last month:
Ruins was recorded by Kevin Antreassian at Backroom Studios and mixed/mastered by Pete Grossmann at Bricktop Recording. Across five songs and 13 minutes, the band tackles “human suffering, the societal structures that we arbitrarily maintain, and how our actions ultimately seal our fates,” not shying away from political themes.
The band just dropped a music video for the EP track, "The Weight of Discontent."
