Michigan’s Drop Rate have been carving out their own lane with a sound rooted in classic hardcore urgency and melody-driven punch. Drawing on different corners of the genre, the band’s approach is shaped by its members' varied backgrounds and ages.
As vocalist Jacob Weston previously told No Echo, “We all pull from different areas of hardcore and punk with members that span over a decade in age, but our main focus is to write fun hardcore songs. The initial concept was inspired by Snapcase, Bane, and all things Walter Schreifels.”
That mix of influences continues to define the band’s latest material, which kicks off today via Twin Charm: Volume 1. It's the maiden release of what will be a series of two-song EPs.
To celebrate the Twin Charm launch, No Echo has teamed up with Drop Rate to premiere the music video for the song “Familiar Glare." The song features some tasty groove parts, and its clip was directed by Shon Allen:
