Opening with an ominous combination of thundering tom hits and twisted guitar harmonics, "Crooked Smile" makes its intentions clear from the start. By the time the tempo gets kicked into overdrive mode, Wanderer have already proven their command over their take on metallic hardcore. The combination of vocalist Brandon Carrigan's anguished screams and guitarist Brent Ericson's down-tuned riffs are a match made in hell, adding an even more sinister vibe to the whole procession.
