Pennsylvania hardcore veterans Wisdom in Chains have returned with a new single recorded in collaboration with Street Dogs, Michael McColgan, and the Bomb Squad.
The song is dedicated to the late Lou Koller of Sick of It All and opens with Agnostic Front’s Vinnie Stigma yelling, “Let’s go to the hardcore show.”
“We had the music down for this for a while, more of a mid-paced street rock vibe,” Wisdom in Chains’ Ritchie Krutch says. “We knew we wanted a melodic, memorable type of vibe for this. “A while ago, we played with Michael McColgan and the Bomb Squad. They played the legendary Dropkick Murphys Do or Die album front to back at this show. We always wanted to collaborate with him—his voice and style rule—so we reached out, and he was down!
“Also, around the time we wrote this, Lou from SOIA was heavily in our thoughts. We played ‘Step Down’ every night on tour and dedicated it to him. He was fighting for his life, and we wanted to show the band the respect and love we had for them, so Frankie mentioned them
.
“The song is about hardcore shows and their importance in our scene, so of course we had to mention Sick of It All. After all, the song ‘Chasing the Dragon’ is a complete tribute to them. Unfortunately, we never got a chance to let Lou hear this track.
Koller died on October 20 at the age of 59 following a long battle with cancer.
