Wyatt for No Echo checking in with Denver's Suicide Cages. The quartet has been steadily making noise in Denver's underground music scene, drawing from the chaotic metallic hardcore and metalcore of bands like Botch, Coalesce, Converge, Zao, and The Dillinger Escape Plan.
Their 2025 EP, Live Without, was recorded and mixed by Felipe Patino at Denver's Green Door Recordings and mastered by Will Putney (Pain of Truth, Knocked Loose). "He watched a ton of Blade Runner, Ex Machina, and Oblivion while writing," said Suicide Cages vocalist Devin when he spoke with me last year about some of the inspiration behind the EP.
Fun fact: Suicide Cages share a practice space with death metal wizards Blood Incantation.
Just a few days ago, I caught up with Devin and bassist Matt to talk about how they connected with producer Will Putney, their plans for new music, and the work that goes into playing shows outside their hometown.
