For No Echo, I caught up with Invocation Ritual guitarist Paul Richards to discuss the band's upcoming debut album, Altered Reality, due out in August via Iron Fortress Records.
Featuring members from Seattle to Barcelona, the death metal outfit wrote the record remotely by exchanging ideas across continents before bringing the songs together into a cohesive full-length.
After spending time with Altered Reality, I came away impressed by its balance of brutality and memorable songwriting. The album's nine tracks are packed with sharp hooks, crushing grooves, and forward-thinking death metal, with opener "Threat By Example" serving as an immediate standout.
