If you’re diving into Latin American hardcore, chances are you’ve already stumbled across bands from Argentina, Chile, and Brazil, where the ’90s sound is still alive today. Moving north to my home country, Mexico City’s Uno a Uno are still waving the flag for Mexican hardcore.
The band recently dropped their new single, “Rata,” first played live at the Mexican edition of For the Children 2025. It’s the first single from their upcoming 10-track album, Que El Mundo Arda En Llamas (Let the World Burn in Flames).
After a quick chat with Uno a Uno vocalist Armando Ronquillo, he explains, “The song is about those supposedly responsible for enforcing order—we believe no one in politics, government, or related institutions is trustworthy.”
“Rata” also features Nate Rebolledo, frontman of Xibalba and longtime friend of the Mexican crew. The single dropped December 11, 2025—just days before Uno a Uno played their first US show—what better place than For the Children 2025 in Los Angeles.
Asked about the new album, Armando says, “The second single from the album will be out soon, and it’ll be the last before the full record drops. It will also feature several collaborations with bands close to us.”
On Latin American hardcore, the vocalist adds, “Shout out to our Texan friends in Worst Behavior and Maldito Dios; our Spanish friends in Firstline; the ticos in Wise Up and Camorra; and our Mexican brothers in Truth Be Told.”
Uno a Uno will soon announce a string of 2026 dates in and outside Mexico, starting with an opening slot for Terror in Mexico City this January. Keep your eyes peeled for the new record dropping soon.
