Since brothers Kyle and Justin Mazlik and guitarist Jeremy Harlan formed Sunmancer in 2022, the Atlanta band has kept busy. But before we get there, let's talk influences.
"Our overall sound comes from a myriad of influences," Justin and Kyle tell No Echo. "You can hear thrash and groove metal, as well as some early aughts metalcore and post-hardcore. We have influences all over the metal spectrum that range from bands like Deftones and Glassjaw to Meshuggah and Pantera."
Since the release of their debut EP, 2023's Nothing Ever Happens, Sunmancer has played throughout the Southeast, going on weekend runs and opening for the likes of August Burns Red and Fuming Mouth along the way.
Sunmancer launched 2025 in style, dropping a 5-song EP called Everything Falls Apart. It finds the quintet injecting layered melodic passages into their metalcore assault, even including blast beat parts and Shrapnel Records-like guitar solos for added measure:
"Everything Falls Apart is a play on words that correlates with the name of our first EP, Nothing Ever Happens.," says Justin. "I came up with the titles as well as all the lyrical content on both EPs. The lyrical themes reflect vulnerable experiences and perspectives from failed relationships and childhood trauma to sudden health issues that if left untreated could become life threatening.
"Our drummer, Pat Snyder, handled all the music production (recording, mixing, and mastering) and tracked all the drums on Everything Falls Apart. The majority of the songwriting was split between our guitarists Kyle and Jeremy with the exception of ‘Realms of Dilemma’ which was written by Pat."

From what the Mazlik brothers are saying, things are popping off in their home city. "The Atlanta metal scene is thriving with shows almost every night of the week, there is a plethora of local bands of every metal sub genre throughout the Atlanta vicinity and around North Georgia.
"The Southeast is a melting pot of active bands; our friends in Turn Cold, Delta Hate, Planetary Ghost, Denounced Disgraced and Actus Reus are just a few that are killing it right now."
