Mile End: Canadian Hardcore Outfit Serves Up Their Best Track Yet via “Bind” (PREMIERE)

Proudly hailing from Brampton, Mile End is one of Canada's rising hardcore bands. No Echo has been showing love to the group for a few years now on our site, and it's been cool to see their hard work paying off.

Formed in 2017, Mile End has several releases under their belt, but it wasn't till 2022 when the band truly found its footing. The quartet began working with Davis Maxwell at School House Studios who helped them refine their sound, bringing an angular bent to their style that brought in influences like Refused, Threadbare, and Snapcase, while still drawing in elements of modern hardcore.

Last year found Mile End team up with New Morality Zine, a big look for the Cannucks. The Chicago-based label will be releasing Mile End's debut album in the near future, and dropped a promo as a teaser last year.

Building more momentum, Mile End worked with Lil Man Purse who shot and edited their new music video for "Bind," a track from the forthcoming LP:

Mile End vocalist Jake Thompson shared the following about "Bind" and its lyrics:

"This was a song Alex and Patrick primarily took the lead on in writing, They wanted to have a Converge-like song, and I (Jake) had a lot of pushback on the song and felt it didn't fit the vibe until we got it in the studio and I started writing lyrics for it. The day we first got in the studio was the same day as the last exam for my fall semester in school, I was having a pretty shit day had just failed a class and was worried about failing the rest of the semester, I was talking to Davis outside about how I felt lost and was at a point in my life where I always wanted but feared.

"I was about to graduate but had zero life plans outside of this band. I’ve been told by relatives and teachers or anyone of authority that I need to have security in life and shouldn't pursue music. I said to Davis how I felt like all I knew was school and I felt like throughout my youth and young adult life that were given a rule book on what to do and no mistake would matter cause I got that rule book to follow and keep me in line and now that books come to an end when I graduate and I got no clue on what's next. All I do know is I got this band and Im fucking stoked on it so I just gotta put my cards all in."
