Lisbon-based Spiritual Decay are an emotive post-hardcore band formed by Brazilian immigrant musicians drawing from shared experiences in the underground. Rooted in the emotional intensity of Washington D.C.’s Revolution Summer lineage, their sound balances vulnerability and aggression with a focus on honesty and emotional presence.

Today, No Echo is premiering "Sungazing," a track that captures the band in a moment of emotional suspension rather than release. The track will appear on Spiritual Decay's forthcoming debut EP, First Four Songs.
Guitarist and vocalist H. Reis explains, “‘Sungazing’ captures a moment of emotional suspension, built around light, heat, and quiet longing.” Blending hazy shoegaze textures with hardcore’s emotional directness, the song moves between warmth and unease. “It reflects the search for connection while something unnamed remains missing.”
Repetition anchors the song’s emotional weight, circling absence without resolving it. “Rather than offering closure, the track stays suspended between comfort and disorientation,” Reis says, pointing to lines like “I feel that something’s missing” as central to that feeling. “It asks simply not to fade away.”
