Like many other bands covered on No Echo in the last couple of years, Kirkby Kiss formed during the lockdown. Since then, the Jersey Shore-based hardcore punk outfit has kept busy, releasing two CDs of music last year, and inking a deal with the recently reactivated '90s label, Council Records (Wrong War, Ottawa).
Kirkby Kiss is gearing up for what should be a fruitful 2022 for the quintet. In addition to building up their gig schedule, the quintet will be entering the studio next month to track six new songs, one which will be featured on an upcoming 7-inch, also on the aforementioned Council Records.
Today, No Echo is giving our readers an early sneak peek at Kirkby Kiss' first collaboration with their new label in the form of "La Mierda," a track that will appear on their forthcoming It's Gonna Cost You LP. The album consists of 3 new songs and 7 previously self-released tracks (remastered for vinyl).
As a bonus, Kirkby Kiss guitarist Michael Shepherd created a music video for the song. "I made the video to reflect the isolation you can feel when you’re in the shit and I hope there’s some comfort in knowing you’re not alone."
"'La Mierda' is one of the new songs from the record," Kirkby Kiss singer Natale Amato told No Echo.
"It was written about the way I feel when I’m struggling with anxiety and depression. I know a lot of people have this same struggle and I wanted the music to capture that feeling."
You can pre-order the vinyl and download the digital versions of It's Gonna Cost You at this link. "La Mierda" will be available across all streaming services on January 31 (pre-save it on Spotify).
