Chopping Block are being called up to the big leagues, as the latest addition to the Indecision Records stable of artists. The label released a pair of singles — “Phony” and “Eyes Fall” — from their forthcoming debut LP, Nowhere to Run, earlier this summer. The band also made an appearance at the Indecision Records Northwest Showcase.
Back in July, Chopping Block bassist Matt Weltner shared the following about their partnership with Indecision:
"Indecision Records has been the hardcore label for me. I love that they have consistently put out awesome bands for like 30 freaking years, so I was stoked out of my mind when they reached out to talk about doing a record.
"Count Me Out, The Promise, and The Suicide File were the bands I obsessed over in my teens. Indecision has kept putting out awesome music - Odd Man Out, Whirlwind, Bent Blue. It’s incredible to be on the same label as these bands.
Matt "Mosher" is a pillar of the Northwest Hardcore community. This isn’t his first rodeo, either. Mosher’s spent time in PNW bands like The Answer, Clarity, Stop At Nothing, and Vanguard (no, not that one). Eddie of Brain Floss Records, had this to say about the band’s last EP, Seattle’s Hardcore:
"I’m really proud of Chopping Block's Seattle's Hardcore because it felt very 'pro' in a way that I thought only big labels could do. Mosher had a vision and we ran with it."
Chopping Block just dropped a new single from Nowhere to Run, a track called “Big Man":
Vocalist Antonio had this to say about the song's lyrics:
"'Big Man' is about how masculinity is defined by violence. It’s silly to say 'real men don’t abuse women,' objectively men do. Even when it’s flipped around into a good thing, 'real men protect the weak' it’s still about violence, it’s still about being strong, and defining others as being weak, and using physical or implied violence. All of this is included in definitions of masculinity, and I don't feel a need to change the definition of masculinity to something I feel I better fit into."

Catch Chopping Block live in Southern California (Indio, San Luis Obispo, and Fullerton) with Ignite and Berthold City in January 16-18, and in the Pacific Northwest February 7-8 (Vancouver B.C. and Seattle).
