Last week, Andy Franchere, aka the Mayor of Techachapi Hardcore, hit me up with a link to new tracks from his latest band, B.D.R. I previously featured the California hardcore outfit earlier this year around the time they dropped their Post Traumatic Stress demo.
Here's what Andy — who fronts B.D.R. and is also joined by his son, Brody Franchere, on guitars in the band — had to say about their stylistic direction: "Brody has grown up with me listening to and forcing him to listen to In Control, Carry On, Striking Distance, and Internal Affairs non stop, so those bands def have an influence."
Back to the new material. B.D.R. just released three tracks, "Dead Soul Disorder," "Bloody Damn Conspiracy," and a cover of Striking Distance's "Fail Me," which features Gregg from Step by Step:
"Musically, the dudes always try to think of playing live," Andy told me about the new material. "What is gonna make kids circle pit, two step, stage dive or smash their friends.
"Lyrically, it’s a take on me dealing with 30 years of trauma from being a firefighter and the damage that has done to my mental health. The other song is about my disgust for people in a position of power and influence who manipulate and exploit. From the world governments to the local scene. I really hate them foos."
