Band: Struck
From: Indianapolis, Indiana
Their formation story:
(Ansel, vocals): "Me and Robbie (guitar) had a previous band together that was breaking up and around that same time Bryton (guitar) had been talking about wanting to start a heavier, more straight-up hardcore band."
(Scout, bass): "I was not originally in the band, my sibling, Bryton (guitar), asked me to fill in on bass for a practice because their bassist at the time couldn’t make it. That went well and things didn’t work out with their then bassist, and the rest of the band (at the time bryton, Robbie , and Ansel) asked me to join."
(Bryton, guitar): "And then Cole (drummer) and I are in a melodic hardcore band together called Senescence and we asked him to join when things didn’t pan out with our original drummer."
Their sound in their own words:
(Ansel, vocals): "I would say our sound is heavily inspired by some NYHC bands like Madball, Backtrack, and Outburst, as well as other bands playing that bouncy NYHC style but not from New York like No Warning."
Bryton (guitar): "I’m not really sure how much we sound like them but Trapped Under Ice is a big inspiration as well."
Latest release info:
(Ansel, vocals): "This is our first release. We recorded with Bill Stack, who records a lot of the local bands here. We’re releasing tapes on our friend Fiona’s DIY label, Suckerpunched. Shua from S.M.I.L.E did the art."
(Robbie, guitar): "The demo is the first five songs we finished that we liked the best, with 4/5 of the songs being written collaboratively at practice."
Future plans:
(Bryton, guitar): "Right now, we’re just trying to play shows. We’re still continuously writing new music and probably will try to record and release a promo towards the end of the year and release another 5 to 6-song EP.
Ansel (vocals): "We also definitely want to to go on a couple runs this year, with some already in the works."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
(All members): "Some great bands from the Indiana area to check out would be, Veloctiy, Colossal Man, What Counts, Halfway House, Youth in Asia, Situational Hazard, and Bryton and Cole’s other band Senescence. And not from Indiana but Innervision, Discern, No Guard and Prevention from Springfield."
