Band: Split Intentions
From: Louisville, Kentucky

Their formation story:
(Maria, vocals): "The formation started between Curtis (our drummer) and I. We had connected through a musicians page and both wanted to start a hardcore band. After some time and searching, we finally landed on our current guitarist Cody and pretty much immediately started writing. It was between our first two meet ups we started writing our song 'Break,' which is on our new EP.

"While we were still in the process of writing material, we tried out a few bassists and then stumbled on John, which was a perfect match. From there we continued to write and focus on getting out there in our local scene and playing some shows."

Their sound in their own words:
"We all love hardcore and have tastes across the board. In my opinion, the first few songs we wrote sound different than our most recent. Our most recent song—which isn't recorded yet—seems to be on track and our goal of what we want our next EP to sound like. I think ultimately, since this is our first band, we are evolving in our sound and want to bring traits from our unreleased song, 'Hold Me Back,' to new material."

"Some of our biggest influences who we have talked about from the beginning are Mindforce, Terror, Inclination, and XweaponX."

Latest release info:
"Our latest release is a 6-song self titled EP. My personal favorites on the EP are 'Holy Ghost' and 'Wish You Would.' Musically, 'Holy Ghost' has a little bit of everything, two-steps, mosh parts, breakdowns, and it's overall probably one of the better songs we've written as a group.

"Lyrically. its inspiration is solely taken from my life with having a relative as a pastor of the church I was forced to go to majority of my life. Its goal was to highlight the hypocrisy of putting said person on such a high pedestal that you're essentially worshipping them instead of the entity you claim to be. There's also just a lot of hypocrisy that occurs in organized religion."

Future plans:
"Our immediate plan for the future is to buckle down and start writing some new material. Since we also just released our EP. we plan to announce a tour run across the Midwest by the end of September!"

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Some bands from our area that other should check out would be: Persuade, Mean Mugg'd, and Surfaced."
