Band: Soul Exchange
From: Austin, Texas
Their formation story:
(Colby Cameron, drums): "Soul Exchange was started late 2023 by Bryce and Grant. We quickly wrote a few songs and got Pete, Colby, and Austin on board. All in a few short months, our first single was put out in July. Since then, we've been gaining traction around Austin hardcore and we just released our debut EP, Two Faces of Shame, last month."
Their sound in their own words:
"We are influenced by '90s and early '00s metallic hardcore, like Merauder, All Out War, and 100 Demons."
Latest release info:
"Two Faces of Shame was self-recorded and produced, and it was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. The EP dives into the struggle of living with hidden pain and the battle between showing strength or letting the world see your true emotions. Shame is a key theme throughout the album, driving both the anger and sadness in each song.
"The title reflects the idea that we all have two faces—the one we show others, and the one that hides our deepest struggles. Tracks like 'True Face' and 'Built with Rust' explore this idea, revealing both rage and vulnerability."
Future plans:
"We'll be heading out on a Texas run with Virtue in mid-December followed to celebrate both bands new EPs. A Midwest tour will follow in the Spring of '25."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Virtue and Beyond Reach."
