Band: Skullpresser
From: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Their formation story:
(Jared Birdseye, vocals): "Our guitarist, Sam, randomly met Dan, aka Soupy from The Wonder Years, because Sam’s kids made Dan look at their Halloween decorations.
"After that, they got to talking and Sam mentioned wanting to start a new heavy band. Dan said his drummer, Michael, also wanted to start a heavy band. So they started jamming and slowly adding members and here we are."
Their sound in their own words:
"If I had to pick one genre, I’d just say metalcore, but we have tons of influences including punk, doom, black metal, and more.
"Influences include Converge, Cursed, Turmoil, His Hero Is Gone, and The Chariot."
Latest release info:
"Our new single, 'Born to Please,' has a pretty straight-forward message about being born to live and die working to make the rich richer. Overall, the entire Position of Power EP has social and political themes. I don’t consider myself an activist, but I know where I stand and this music is for those who feel the same."
Future plans:
"Right now, we are just looking to play shows whenever we can, and then start writing again."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
"GetxWell, Pyre, No Heirloom, Harm Assist, Party Nerves, Costanza, Beef, Time, Quarantine, Delco MF’s."
