Higher Power have just announced that they've signed with Nuclear Blast Records. The UK-based band first landed on my radar via their 2017 debut album, the very Leeway-esque Soul Structure. They then inked a deal with Roadrunner Records who issued their more melodically-minded sophomore full-length record, 2020's 27 Miles Underwater.
Along with the label announcement, Higher Power dropped a music video for new single, "Absolute Bloom." The song finds the group veering even further from their hardcore roots, exploring an eclectic array of sounds including shoegaze-like atmospherics and alt.rock-kissed choruses:
Higher Power vocalist Jimmy Wizard shared the following about the track:
"I’m super excited to release this song. It’s really personal to me in this transitional period of my life, about wanting a deeper more meaningful connection to the real world and not quite being equipped to do so, but finding hope and figuring it out. The music reflects that with a song that's so big and upbeat.”
Higher Power are currently on tour across the US supporting Neck Deep. The band also have appearances planned at both Northern Unfest and Outbreak Festival this year.
