Their formation story:
:We all started playing music in various bands shortly after high school (2005). The name Rile was coined in 2008 and some early and long since forgotten 2-3 song demos would follow in 2008, 2012, 2013, and 2016. We only played a handful of local shows in those years.
"In 2022 we released our first single from Pessimist and started touring with the intention to push this band as a more serious focus."
Their sound in their own words:
"When we started writing together, we bonded heavily over Hydra Head Records-affiliated bands like Botch, Cave In, Isis, Converge, Coalesce, Dillinger, etc. It was a great curation of niche heavy music with wide a range of dynamics. You’d commonly expect odd time signatures, abrasive chords and effect inspired riffs… But also melody, atmosphere and emotion. Rile is basically our attempt at making a Hydra Head salad."
Latest release info:
"We recorded Pessimist in late 2020 with our producer/engineer/practically 4th member, Wesley Johnson, at his studio, Archive Recordings in Salt Lake City. It was a really heavy year. The music industry was practically frozen in place.
"We were sitting on years worth of material and chemistry. Suddenly, we had time in our schedules to make a record without cutting corners. Even if we had to hold onto it for a while."
Future plans:
"We recently wrapped up a West Coast tour that ended in San Diego at Dia De Los Deftones. We recently announced our hometown album release show and another run of regional tour dates soon. We have another album finished already and lots more big things coming!"
