Band: GOW
From: Charleston, South Carolina
Their formatiom story:
(Dawn, vocals): "Will and I originally had the idea to start a heavy band. A lot of us had been playing in more Midwest emo bands, and we needed a different outlet. A lot of our close friends were already musicians into the genre, so we just naturally grew into a six piece."
Their sound in their own words:
(Zach, vocals): "We try to mix old metalcore with emo violence and screamo. Biggest influences would be Orchid, Regional Justice Center, Converge, anybody on Ephyra Records."
Latest release info:
(Jake, bass): "We’ve just released a three-song EP called Seance. We’ve come more into our own with this one. Our first release leaned more heavily toward emo violence, but we had more of an old school metalcore influence with this one. It’s not a total sound change. We think we were just able to blend more of our influences together on this one."
Future plans:
(Graham, drums): "Freak Fest on October 18th, is our next stop. It’ll be our first show after the EP release, so we’re excited to see how everyone reacts. We’re trying to get more footing around the southeast, and hopefully start playing outside of that in other parts of the country.
"Otherwise, we’re going to try to fuse our sounds from the previous ep with the new one. This new release is a big stylistic development. Plus we have other unrecorded songs and more in the works."
What other bands from their region should we check out?
(Dan, guitar): "SCHC and the southeast in general is pretty hot right now. Our homies in Dryrot, Darlington Chainsaw, Krypt, and Quiet are all consistently putting out super sick stuff.
"Also check out Hymns of Blasphemy, Beshiba, and Your Spirit Dies. If you're in the area at the end of October, definitely come out to Freak Fest and see for yourself."
