SPEED: Aussie Hardcore Kings Rock the Mean Streets of Sydney on “WE SEE U” Video

It’s hard to find a band in Australia right now that’s more hyped than Sydney hardcore kings, SPEED.

After dropping their demo through Newcastle’s Last Ride Records in 2019, the band went on to partner up with New York-based label Flatspot Records—home to heavy hitters like Typecaste, Kharma, and Section H8—for the release of their stellar 2020 Flex two-track.

When No Echo last caught up with SPEED, we asked vocalist Jem what was next on the cards for the young hardcore outfit. “Keep writing. Keep talking and keep keeping engaged with the people around us,” said the singer. “Whenever shows happen, we’re gonna run this shit hard.”

Well, with their newest track “WE SEE U” officially out in the world, along with its accompanying posse cut video, we now know that the man wasn’t kidding around.

For real though, this might just be the hardest thing you see all week. It’s some real tough guy, hard as nails, air-horns-in-the-pit type shit. They even cut some laps in a Toyota Avalon. It rules. Check it out below:

On the release of their OFFICIAL MOVIE, No Echo hit up Jem once again to give us the lowdown on how this white-knuckle rager came about:

“The song was made for the This Is Australia Vol.2 compilation, which features one-minute songs by some of the sickest in Australian hardcore. It was a good challenge for us to write the stupidest possible song in 60 seconds.

"The video was filmed in a day by our good friend Jack Rudder in our local neighbourhoods of Sydney, Australia. We took influence from the classic '90s vids of Biohazard and Madball and wanted to create a visualiser which authentically captured our identity.”

This Is Australia Vol.2  is out July 30th through Last Ride Records and is available for digital pre-order here.
