New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Mariscal X

Band: Mariscal X
From: Buenos Aires, Argentina

Their formation story:
(Federico, vocals): "Hi, my name is Federico, but everyone calls me Pelusa. I'm 11 years old and I sing in Mariscal X ('Quarterback X' in Spanish). My parents, Pauli and Fedex, have been active members of the Buenos Aires hardcore scene since ever (currently in the band Distante).

"Last summer (January here in the southern hemisphere), we were having dinner in our backyard and I told them I wanted to be in a hardcore band. So we got Diegui, a friend of the family, all around music person and local straight edge hero, on drums. We have a humble little rehearsing room in our house, so we wrote and recorded a 4-song demo in February, and started playing shows right away."

Their sound in their own words:
"Definitely Ten Yard Fight. The lyrics are also football-themed. My dad and I are football fans and straight edge, so we thought that would be the path to take."

Latest release info:
"Una Yarda Más came out today on Spotify, we planned it for Edge Day, but shit happens. It´s 4 new songs and 3 songs from our demo re recorded. As I said, the demo was recorded at home, mixed by my dad/guitarist who knows shit about mixing [laughs]. This time we went to a cool studio and the outcome makes us proud."

Future plans:
"Just keep playing shows, meeting new people, spreading the positive message of straight edge and hopefully go out on tour one day."

What are some other bands from your region we should check out?
"Distante, Wrrn, Impulso, Neokira, Rancho Aparte, Dust, Maleba, Cadenas, Black Wolves, Revancha, Knockout... There are so many great bands, Buenos Aires is a huge city and the scene here is growing, rebirthing, or whatever you want to call it, but there´s shows every weekend and it´s lots of fun."
