Band: Curb Stomped
From: Greater Toronto Area
Their formation story:
(Keving Collins, lead guitars): "Started in Toronto, Curb Stomped is my passion project. Birthed through my constant anger and disappointment - political failures, the deteriorating state of the world, and a global pandemic fueled this heaviness.
"I wrote and recorded the first 3-track demo, Cracked, by myself as an outlet for those feelings. I met with Zach Kostigian to record vocals. Our bass player Nate Coulman has been in the picture long before the band was formally founded, and our drummer Tomb was recruited for our most recent demo. 3 Piece."
Their sound in their own words:
"Our sound and style is a fusion of our biggest influences - hardcore, slam, and deathcore. Nate and I grew up listening to stuff like Pantera and Slipknot, and more recently the big hardcore names like Sunami, SPEED, and Volcano.
"PeelingFlesh and Snuffed on Sight have been on repeat recently, and I think that reflects heavily on our most recent release."
Latest release info:
"Our newest release is a 3-track demo titled 3 Piece. It's a hardcore/slam fusion that we are really proud of. Like Cracked, it comes from a place of anger. 2023 has been one of those years, and we chose to channel that into something super heavy. A groovy 2-step break, the fast 120bpm hardcore beatdowns everyone wants - with the guttural heaviness that we love about slam."
Future plans:
"Our future plans for the band are to finish up our first EP, and get our first music video finalized and released. We will be tearing up some shows around the Great Lakes both sides of the border in early 2024 before we hopefully hit the road."
What other bands from the region should we check out?
"We caught Gazm from Montreal opening up for Sunami a couple weeks back, they absolutely tore it up. I recently discovered another Ontario band called Rust, those guys have some wicked tracks definitely worth checking out."
