Band: Buio Omega
From: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Their formation story:
(Guitarist Nikki Derella): "I moved to Minneapolis from Tallahassee, Florida in June 2022. I had met Matt (guitar) in 2015 in Iowa City at a pop-punk festival our bands played called Bloated Saturday, and he clued me into the punk scene when I got here. I met Greer (vocals) at punk baseball, and then we bonded at a queer performance event called House of 1000 Queers and we quickly started hanging out most days watching pro wrestling (90s All Japan Women's, modern STARDOM, and AEW).
"I had been going to shows and talking about how I wanted to start a hardcore band when one day Matt asked me if I wanted to join a band he was starting. I immediately said yes, and got so excited when he said that Greer was also in the band (unbeknownst to Matt we were already close friends.). We were all at a show at June Moon's backyard when June walked up to Greer and asked her if she was in a band because she was dressed like a rockstar.
"Matt was already thinking about asking her to start a band, and that moment solidified that thought and he asked her to join this project. Matt is in another band with Josh (drums) called Closetalker and they switched which instruments they play between the bands.
"The project started because Matt wanted to play music with Midge (bass) since 2018 when he first moved to Minneapolis and their bands played a show together. He first asked them to start the band, and then asked people who he thought would form a band he would want to see. We played our first show on September 1st, three months to the day that I moved to Minneapolis."
Their sound in their own words:
"Hard rocking, sleezy, horny, tough, and vulnerable.
Tom G Warrior of Celtic Frost, Ideation, AC/DC, Die (UK), Boston Strangler, Mariah Carey."
Latest release info:
"Take a Look is a four-song EP that encapsulates our interests and experiences as a band. We have songs about leering back at creepy men in public, being horny as hell, Bull Nakano vs Aja Kong in their Chain Link Cage Match from 1990, and slasher film imagery.
"We recorded our EP in one evening in Matt's basement with our friend Sean Albert. We recorded drums, bass, and one guitar live and dubbed in the second guitar. Greer crushed all of her vocals on the first take."
Future plans:
"We want to get famous enough so that Greer can have her own dating reality show called Greer of Love.
Also we are going on our first Midwest tour in March:

3/25 - Des Moines, IA
3/26 - St Louis, MO

"We are putting out Take a Look on lathe cut 7-inch records, and tapes in the near future."
