Lower Species is a Olympia, Washington-based band featuring guitarist Jose Mora (Gag, Mongrel) within its ranks. Their sound is firmly rooted in the late NYHC sound that groups like Outburst and Killing Time helped pioneer in the late '80s.
"Blinded" comes off Lower Species' second demo, which will see a cassette release via the Advanced Perspective label out of Southern California. The song opens with a mid-tempo section that builds up into a standalone guitar riff that jump starts a speedy verse. The vocals are throaty yet clear enough for you to make out the lyrics. "Blinded" ends with a classic-sounding breakdown that is too catchy to deny.
