New England hardcore outfit Wisdom & War have steadily built momentum with raw energy and a refined blend of ’90s hardcore and nu-metal influences. Today, No Echo is proud to premiere the video for "No Doubt," the first single from their upcoming EP.
Formed by seasoned performers with more than a decade in metal and hardcore, Wisdom & War are known for high-energy intensity and a live presence that has taken them from local support slots to national tours. After the release of Superior Design on Unbeaten Records, the band opened for acts such as Soulfly and Death Threat and toured nationally with Escuela Grind. With new routes opening up across the country, "No Doubt" shows a band tightening its scope and vision.
Vocalist Chanel says the track came together in the final stretch of recording. “The first single 'No Doubt’ was the last song written before entering the studio, and it just snuck its way onto the record,” the singer tells No Echo. “The hook at the end of the record was something I had written down for so long…we never got to it until the very last minute of getting songs together for this record. Some of our favorite songs come together when we just say ‘just play something’ — this was one of those songs.”
The video itself grew out of a single day with a clear sense of purpose. “The video was shot in my backyard on July 20th, which is exactly six months before the release of the video. Crazy to think about,” Chanel said.
Wisdom & War worked with Will Hirst (who also mixed the EP) and Brad Boatright (mastering) to capture the sound they’d been honing live. “This was the first time everyone was available to show up for every session and support each member during the process,” Chanel says. “Some great ideas came about last minute that we all love hearing on the record because of that. Will is great to work with and really understood what we all were looking to hear in the record.”
It looks to be a busy year for Wisdom & War, with shows already being announced, including a free one with a stacked lineup that also includes Xibalba, Crush Your Soul, LIE, Can't Lose, and Life's End at the Middle East in Boston on Valentine's Day:
