VIDAFUEGO formed in Elche in 2024, but its members have deep roots in Spanish Hardcore. With backgrounds in bands like No Idea, Scumbag, Fhentun, and The Uridium, they came together out of a shared motivation.
"We always wanted to play the kind of hardcore we love listening to," the band tells No Echo. "No overthinking it, just writing songs with live shows in mind. We started writing together, everything clicked really fast, and we haven't stopped since."
That approach runs through everything the band does. VIDAFUEGO handles its own recording and mixing, puts together its own artwork and flyers, and relies on friends in the community when they need support. "That's what hardcore means to us," the band says.
Musically, the VIDAFUEGO dudes reference such influences as Terror, Mindforce, Madball, Inclination, and Sick of It All, which are easy to pick out. "We try to write the kind of songs we'd want to hear at a hardcore show—straightforward, energetic songs that make people move and become part of what's happening," the band explains.
VIDAFUEGO's new 4-song EP, El Camino del Dolor, came out in June. The band kept its core sound but aimed for a heavier and more focused production this time around. "We feel it represents the band much better and shows where we're heading," the band says.
Bassist Luis Picó recorded and mixed the EP at Belowbeat Studio, and Anthony Burke handled mastering. The band stayed involved at every step. They also released a music video for the title track:
The band plans to play as many shows as possible in support of El Camino del Dolor. They already have four or five new songs ready for another EP. "We'll keep writing new material because we want to stay active and keep putting out music on a regular basis."
VIDAFUEGO points to other bands worth checking out in the Spanish hardcore scene, including Volga [recently profiled on No Echo], Fosco, Ratizidas, and Frontside Grind. For them, a strong scene comes from bands backing each other up.
