Single Wound is a metalcore band based out of Toronto, Canada. Founded in 2017, the group released their debut EP, The Things I Never Got to Say, in December of that year, playing their first shows together soon after that.

Originally a trio comprised of Fernando Murga (guitar/vocals), Gabriel Gimenez (Drums), and Jorge Alvarez (bass/vocals), Single Wound invited local musician Kole Frank to take over vocal duties. The refreshed lineup fleshed out their new material throughout the next year and then dropped their second EP, Isolate, in Spring 2019.

Single Wound has released a slew of singles since then, playing other provinces across Canada including Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, throughout 2022.

The band's next chapter begins today with the premiere of "Drop the Knife," the first taste of Single Wound's forthcoming debut album:

Single Wound guitarist/vocalist Fernando Murga shared the following with No Echo about the song:

"'Drop the Knife' is basically about following your dreams and doing what’s best for you and not letting anything or anyone stand in the way of what it is you want to achieve. For me the title has a literal meaning to it.

"I believe that everyone out there has something they hope to achieve in life but may feel held back or like they don’t think they have what it takes. This song is your wake up call to go out there and chase what you really want. No one said it will be easy but you have to fight for what you truly desire if you want to see it come to fruition."

For the track, Single Wound invited a friend from the Canadian hardcore scene to join in on the action. "We have our good friend Tommy Wood who plays in a band called Rust from here in Ontario featured on this song and we’re really happy with the way he contributed to this song. He brings that extra kick and has been a huge supporter over the years. Our last tour before the pandemic hit and the restrictions began was with Rust and we’ve been great friends ever since.

"There are so many great bands from around here I think the hardcore/metalcore scene in Ontario is the best it’s ever been just want to give a quick shoutout to some bands from here that are killing it Mile End, Cohezion, Deadly Game, The Good Depression, Gavel, Reality Denied, Still Numb, and the team at Steel City Hardcore."
