The journey the members of Peacemaker have taken together in the name of hardcore has been a long one. "It all started in 1996 in the small town of Rawicz in southwest Poland," bassist Jarek tells No Echo. "At that time, Kucol (vocal) and I had a dream/idea — to start our own band. At first, we called the band Nameless. Not long after, we changed it to State of Hate and brought in our friend Spider from Wrocław as vocalist. But in ‘97, there was a flood that hit Wrocław, and Spider ended up moving to Warsaw.
"After that, the we started playing as a trio under the name Peacemaker. And we play under this name to this day. Of course, throughout all these years of our activity (over 27) we played a lot of concerts and it was really, really cool... Unfortunately, there were also a lot of unpleasant things: the lineup has changed a lot, we’ve had breaks, hiatuses, comebacks—we’ve lost count of how many. But we’re still here, still in the game and we’re not giving up."
Joining Jarek in the current lineup of Peacemaker is vocalist Kucol, guitarist Łukasz, and drummer Kuba. The band dropped an album called Internal Revolution late last year. "This album is some kind of summary of the band's activity from 2017 to 2024 and contains nine songs of very different tempos," says Jarek.
"Lyrically, Internal Revolution is definitely not a concept album, but at the same time, we wanted the music and the lyrics to work together seamlessly. I think we achieved that—heavy sounds paired with lyrics that mostly deal with heavy and unpleasant topics."
Jarek breaks the Peacemaker sound for us:
"We sometimes jokingly describe our music as too metal for hardcore fans and too hardcore for metalheads. Musically, we're inspired by all kinds of heavy music that kicks ass. I won't mention the names of all bands (because the list would go on forever), but I'll give you some examples: Hatebreed, Crowbar, Merauder, and Internal Bleeding."
As we usually do, No Echo asks for some regional love, and here's what Jarek says about the local bands Peacemaker shares the circuit with in Poland. "Check out Mortemorium (our guitarist’s deathcore/death metal band), 71TONMAN (our drummer's doom/sludge band), Morrath (death metal), NONSANTO (grindcore), Place on Earth (crust punk), MØLD (power violence), Six Steps Forward (modern hardcore), and Hexendecimal (groove metal)."
