No Echo contributor writer, and overall NYHC/metal OG, Howie Abrams, has just sent me a teaser trailer to a documentary he's part of called Heavy Healing. The project finds him collaborating with photographer Jammi York and music industry vet Seth Abrams.
Here's what Howie sent me about the documentary:
"Heavy Healing seeks to dispel rumors and shine a much-deserved bright light on the healing powers of heavy music. You will hear directly and frankly from artists, fans and industry types - remarkable individuals who have leaned on these 'controversial' music makers to inspire them through the grueling process of recovery from the likes of cancer, anxiety and depression, strokes, heart attacks, cerebral palsy, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and substance abuse to name a few."
While the film is still being finalized, the team has already filmed interviews with such musicians as Vinnie Stigma (Agnostic Front), Jimmy Drescher (Murphy's Law), Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage), Vinnie Stigma (Agnostic Front), Jesse Malin (Heart Attack, D-Generation), and Michael Alago (A&R Metallica, White Zombie).
Heavy Healing also will feature the final interview Leeway vocalist Eddie Sutton did before his untimely passing in 2024:
The documentary will include music by Leeway, Suicidal Tendencies, and more. Heavy Healing’s completion is expected Winter 2025/26.
Stay updated via the film's Instagram page.
