Band: Suicide Cages
From: Denver, Colorado
Their formation story:
(Mhyk Monroe, guitar): "Devin Robough (vocals) and I had thrown around the idea during the pandemic. I made some demos at home, and the idea started to evolve beyond just being the two of us. Thom McLoughlin (bass) and I had been in bands previously, so I asked him if he was interested and he brought in Andrew Richo (drums) from the band they were in, at the time.
"We rehearsed together for about 3 months in 2021 and played a 15-minute set at a house party for our first show."
Their sound in their own words:
"Loud and noisy and fun, but we are always trying to be as tight and technically proficient as possible. Some of our influences when we were starting were Coalesce, Every Time I Die, Dillinger Escape Plan, Botch, and Deadguy. We often also get compared to Zao and Converge."
Latest release info:
“Cascading Failure was a stylistic jump for us. We wanted to really focus our sound into something unique rather than trying to mimic our influences. We also wanted to focus our messaging; a lot of Devin’s lyrics are very personal and deal with very specific feelings and situations."
Future plans:
"We’re finally at a point where we’re making short tour plans for 2024 and 2025. For now, we’re playing in Colorado, and plan to release our first video in 2024 along with a new EP, which we’re recording in January."
What other bands from the region should we check out?
"Hellgrammites, Lost Relics,The Burial Plot, Church Fire, Leveler, Voideater, Hashtronaut, Moon Pussy, Eyes of Salt, Ignorant Bliss."
