Band: Painstrike
From: San Antonio, Texas
Their formation story:
(Elijah Gomez, guitar): “For a while, I had wanted to start a band showcasing my love for cult H8000 hardcore and early-era black/death metal. When my old band fizzled out, I decided now was the perfect time to get this idea off the ground.
"San Antonio has had a lack of new bands with new faces or people who don’t already play in a million other bands. So, on that note, I got together some friends who I’ve been wanting to do a band with for some time now, and everything began to fit together perfectly.”
Their sound in their own words:
“Our sound on this demo can only be described as dark. Yes, that term gets thrown around lightly these days, but there’s no one else in our scene doing anything close to this sound.
"When writing for this demo, I went in with the intention of recreating the vibes of early-’90s demos from bands like Ringworm and All Out War, while also listening to a healthy dose of Celtic Frost and early Sepultura.”
Latest release info:
“Commit Eternal Sin is our four-song debut demo. We wrote these songs during our first-ever session together and started recording the next day. For it being the first time I ever played with James on drums, it felt really organic, and we’re all super proud to present this work.
"At the time of writing this, we’re currently running a preorder for T-shirts and self-released CDs. Actual demo tapes will soon follow through a label.”
Future plans:
“The plan is to play shows around Texas and write more music. Starting in ’27, we want to take this out of state. If you’re reading this, we want to play in your city. If you have a dope band, we want you to play in San Antonio. Hit us up and let’s work something out.”
What other bands from your region should we check out?
“Texas has a plethora of great bands doing their thing. Check out and support Nemesis/L.O.D., Funeral Service/B.O.W.S/Fatal Fatigue, Dark Age, Dawn of Ash, Heaven Denied, The Master’s Call, Compulsion/Paradise, Anchorite/Plague Cross, Defcon One, Since My Beloved, Deep Cover, Immortal Cry, Perdition, Order of Living, Gangbusters/Freeze Out, and Skourge.”
The Commit Eternal Sin demo is available on CD via Pure Fucking Chaos.
