New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Diced

Band: Diced
From: Tulsa, Oklahoma

Their formation story:
"The band was formed by Brian (lead guitar) and Taylor (vocalist). We were fans of each other's previous projects and decided to fill a void in the Tulsa scene with some straightforward hardcore punk.

"Nick (drums) and Ryan (bass), also very active members in the local music scene joined and we proceeded to write our demo, shortly after recording, our final member, Brad joined the band on rhythm guitar."

Their sound in their own words:
"We all listen to a lot of different genres of punk and music in general. Pulling influence from bands like Fugazi, Hot Snakes (rest in peace Rick Froberg), Infest, Converge, and His Hero Is Gone. We had a clear vision for the sound of the band and it made the collaboration process really fun and easy."

Latest release info:
"We decided to call it Demo? after recording all the songs we wrote in 2022 we kind of questioned if a 14-minute release really qualifies as a demo. The question mark is almost our way of making fun of ourselves for what some may consider a punishing length for a demo. It was recorded and mixed by some of our friends from the Tulsa scene. Shout out to Tip and Bob."

Future plans:
"Our friends from Cult Love Sound Tapes are putting out a limited run of cassettes for us that will be out soon."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"Ectospire is a really sick queer death metal band from Tulsa. Their EP, Formless Horrors, is on Spotify and Bandcamp. As far as punk and hardcore goes, the Oklahoma City scene has been holding us down for quite a while and there’s too many sick bands to name but our friends in Inferna and Free4All, Bashed In, and Primal Brain for sure.

"Also shouts out to Cult Love Sound Tapes, Flyover Fest, and Mass Movement, all fixtures in Tulsa DIY."
