Band: BLDSPRT
From: Edinburgh, UK

Their formation story:
(Rhys Walker, vocals): "Well Sean, Ben and I used to be in a band together that was coming to the end of its lifecycle. Ben had just been accepted to a big music school in America so we were all round at his pretty late just spending time before he left. We ended up recording some riffs Sean had wrote and this became 'BLOODSPORT,' the track.

"We officially formed in December 2023 and we had a largely different arrangement of five members for a bit until we cut down to the three of us, We played our first show in July 2024 on a mixed bill and two of our friends I went to school with ended up Joining, Lewin and Daniel. It took us a minute to find our feet but we're happy with how it's all going now."

Their sound in their own words:
"I think some of the original tracks like the one on the demo are pretty heavy hardcore/beatdown hardcore, but we're moving away from that slightly do more of a '90s metallic hardcore sound but still staying true to our roots."

Latest release info:
"Our demo has been changed and talked about for almost a full year, So we've grown slightly but the songs are probably at the best version of themselves. The demo is almost a reflection of our interests and influences from when it was written, sampling Trainspotting and Bloodsport (the film we're named after) and sounds from the bands we were into. We're super glad we have a proof of concept that we can finally prove ourselves with."

Future plans:
"We've got some super-exciting shows coming up that my good friend Scott McLeod who is in Lights Out with me is filling in on the drums for us while ben is studying in the States. Behind the scenes, we're working up to recording the EP and running some more EHHC shows in Edinburgh.

"I feel like this band is only just starting and 2025 is the year we make our mark in not only the UK but make sure that Edinburgh gets a tangible hardcore scene."

What other bands from their region should we check out?
"As there's only a few Edinburgh bands, we're getting to know everyone who makes the same sounds as us. From E-Town big push for Righteous Mob, Kakihara and the band with a few members from Edinburgh, allmylifeneededwasasenseofsomeplacetogo (mouthful). Bands from the west that should be checked out are Bathed in Sin, No Known Weakness, Heads on Pikes, Grand Slam and Lights Out.

"Everyone in these bands have been nothing but welcoming to us and helped wherever they could. We love Scottish Hardcore and everyone should keep an eye for all the new blood band's releases this year.

"We also want to thank people from Edinburgh for supporting us even though there's hardly a scene here. Go to your local hardcore shows and support local bands."
