Los Angeles band Sweat have spent the past several years carving out their own lane between balls-out hardcore and swaggering rock ’n’ roll. Formed in 2019 by members of Graf Orlock, Dangers, Dogteeth, and Ghostlimb, the group draws on decades of Southern California scene experience to craft a sound that blends punk urgency with classic-rock grit.
Sweat have cited such bands as Wipers, Cro-Mags, Masshysteri, Rival Mob, Motörhead, and Thin Lizzy as prime influences. To date, they've released two studio albums—2022's Gotta Give It Up and 2024's Love Child—and next month, the quintet will be blessing us with a new LP entitled Tear It On Down.
No Echo has the pleasure of premiering the forthcoming album's second single, “Surveillance State":
The track’s message taps directly into the band’s confrontational worldview. Vocalist Tuna Tardugno explains to No Echo:
“‘Surveillance State’ is about being policed. No cops means no cops—in uniform or in punx clothes. Conservatism comes in a lot of different forms and bringing that sentiment into a marginalized part of the world supposed to be free of that is counterintuitive.”
Tear It On Down was recorded live to tape in July 2025 at Atomic Garden in Oakland, California, with Grammy-nominated producer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta) handling tracking, mixing, and mastering.
Sweat will also hit the road around the album’s release with a run of West Coast and Southwest shows. Check the dates out below.
