On November 29, 2023, Quicksand stopped by the studios of KEXP during a tour stop in Seattle to film a live video session.
The multi-camera set finds the post-hardcore legends in relaxed mode, all smiles and swaying along to the deep pocket laid down by Alan Cage and Sergio Vega.
It's a powerful performance that Quicksand fans should also take note of because the first three songs they play—"Fazer," "Head to Wall," and "Dine Alone"—are the same ones that open the band's seminal debut album, Slip. It's a fitting choice since the KEXP session was recorded last year, during a campaign celebrating the album's 30th anniversary.
To close the KEXP session, Quicksand chose "Lightning Field," a track from their 2021 Distant Populations album. Host Troy Nelson chats with vocalist/guitarist Walter Schreifels after the performance, and he surprises him with some Quicksand ephemera from his younger years:
Quicksand will be out on the road again this year, including a North American run as direct support for Hot Water Music, who just announced their new album today.
