Milan’s Already Buried may be a new name, but the members are anything but newcomers. Featuring musicians from early 2000s-era bands Abel Is Dying and To the Embers, the group represents both a return to form and a fresh creative outlet for a scene-tested lineup.
Formed in April 2024 after a long hiatus, the band came together with a simple goal: to reconnect with the sound and energy that first brought them into hardcore. “We decided to start playing together again—mainly for fun, but also to explore a new sound that reconnects us with where we originally came from,” guitarist Gigio tells No Echo. That chemistry came back quickly. The band hit the rehearsal space right away and soon had a batch of material that would become their debut EP, Bad Things Happen and People Get Hurt:
Sonically, Already Buried lean into a direct, no-frills approach rooted in hardcore while drawing on the heavier, more metallic influences that shaped their earlier projects. “Hardcore has always been at the core of our mindset,” Gigio explains. “We’ve kept that attitude as the main guideline for both our music and our live shows.” He points to bands like Guns Up!, Cold World, Strife, and Terror as touchstones, while also noting a “hip-hop attitude” and an ongoing obsession with ’80s films as part of the band’s DNA.
The EP itself was built entirely through a DIY process. Drums were tracked in a friend’s basement, with guitars and bass recorded between band members’ homes. Vocals were later captured at Trai Studio, a familiar space for many local hardcore acts. For mixing and mastering, the band turned to longtime friend Stefano Santi at SPVN Studio, known for his work with Fulci, Stone Cold, and Cripple Bastards.
Already Buried began rolling out the EP earlier this year with the singles “Mirror Lies” and “Nice Shoes,” offering listeners a glimpse of its bleak, aggressive tone. “We want people to join us from the very beginning of the listening process and really experience what’s behind the overall mood,” Gigio says.
Lyrically, the material leans into personal reflection and the weight of everyday life. While Gigio didn’t handle the writing himself, he notes that vocalist Paul and guitarist Tommy focused on “personal feelings and their vision of the world we all have to face every day.”

Bad Things Happen and People Get Hurt is out now on streaming outlets, with a 12” vinyl edition—limited to 100 copies on translucent neon green wax—drops shortly after via Rebuilding (pre-order).
